Anya is an M.D. candidate and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in the HBPL. She earned undergraduate degrees in comparative literature and biology from Stanford University, where she developed an interest in the intersection of the mind and brain. Her research focuses on the effects of psychoactive drugs on socio-emotional processing and the implications these effects might have for the development of novel treatments for mood disorders. Anya is also interested in innovative collaborations between the humanities and the sciences, and she is involved in a project called “Fiction Addiction,” which examines the psychology and neurobiology of “binge-watching” serialized television shows.
